General Information

Curriculum
Class placement is based solely on ability level and is subject to approval by the directors.  This policy assures that each student receives the proper training at the appropriate level.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT: A parent participating class for children ages 18 monthe-3 years.  Children will explore movement by utilizing props and various typers of music.

TINY TOT TAP, JAZZ & BALLET(Ages 3-4)Levels I & II: A tap, jazz and balllet class for our younger dancers.

KINDER TAP, KINDER BALLET & KINDER JAZZ (Age 5): A tap ballet and jazz class for the kindergarden student.

PRE-BALLET AND BALLET, Cecchetti Method (Ages 6-Adult): This is a classicalformof dance which is the foundation of most dance forms.  As it is a strict and demanding discipline, the study of ballet is critical to develope the technique necessary to become a fine dancer.

POINTE (Ages 12 & Up): A traditional pointe class based on the Cecchetti method for female dancers over the age of 12 with at least two years of ballet training.  As a ballet dancer must attain a certain level of strength and stability before beginning pointe work, dancers are evaluated by thei ballet instructor and the Directos before being invited to advance to the pointe class.Those studying pointe must dance at least two other slipper classes per week.

PRE-JAZZ & JAZZ (Ages 6-Adult):Various styles of dance related to types of music, including classical jazz, blues, latin, hip-hop and lyrical are explored with accents on strenght, flexability and techniqual combinations.  This class is centered on ballet-based technique, as a carefully built solid techniqual foundation is essential in order for a student to excel as a jazz dancer.

PRE-TAP & TAP (Ages 6-Adult): A form of dance where in rhythmical sounds are created by the feet focusing on musicality and rhythms.

ACROBATICS (Ages 5 & Up): Based in gymnastics, this class combines acrobatics with dance.  Students will learn all forms of tumbling;gain strength and work on flexability.

FUNK and Hip-Hop : A type of street dancing that anyone can participate in, regardless of previous dance experiene, in which a variety of hip-hop music is used.

MODERN (Previous experience required): A ballet based interpretive form of dancer where the body is used to create shapes and lines based on particular theories of modern dance. Ex: Duncanesque, Cunningham and Graham.

SOLO CLASSES: Private lessons are available for all dance forms and ability levels.  Solo classes will be scheduled on a mutually agreed upon time by teacher and student.  Dances learned in private lessons will appear in the recital, however, will only compete upon approval by the directors.  Time slots are limited and will be given in order of registration.

Class Participation
CLASS COMMITMENT AND ABSENCE POLICY

All students will be allowed only 3 UNEXCUSED absences from December through June, our recital month.  If a student has missed more than three classes without a parent/guardian calling the studio, that student may not be allowed to participate in the recital.  Each student is expected to come to class fully prepared with head to toe proper attire each week.  This policy is in place to ensure that alll students are properly prepared for the recital and the best education possible is provided to those who attend class every week.

Dress Code
All female dancers must have hair fastened tightly away from face and neck in a bun.  No jewelry may be worn in class.

Ballet:   Theatrical pink Bodywrappers Danskin seamless tights.  Any style black leotard;Capezio pink split sole ballet slippers with strap sewn on

Jazz:     Bodywrappers Jazzy Tan or Danskin Light Toast or suntan tights;Any style black leotard;Caramel slip on jazz boots

Tap:     Bodywrappers Jazzy Tan or Danskin Light Toast or suntan tights;Any style black leotard; Caramel U-buckle 1/2 inch heel tap shoes with tell tone taps

Modern:     Capezio footless suntan tights;Any style black leotard

Acro:     No tights;Any style black leotard

Funk:     Danskin black tights;Any style black leotard;Black jazz pants(optional);Black leather low top dance sneaker

Tiny Tot and Kinder Classes:     Same tights and leotard requirements as above-by discipline

Jazz:   Black ballet slippers; Tap:     Black patent leather tie tap shoes w/elastics, NO ribbon; Ballet:     Pink ballet slippers


All male dancers must wear black dance tights for ballet and black dance pants for all other classes with a white T-shirt, along with black patent leather tap shoes (tell-tone taps) for tap class, black slip on jazz boots for jazz class and/or black ballet slippers for ballet.

General Info
COSTUMES

All students are required to purchase a costume for each class they are enrolled in if he/she will be performing in the annual dance recital. If a student withdraws from a class after costume orders have been placed in November, that student will be resopnsible for the full costume price. All costume deposits are due in October with the balances due by the first of November. 


ADDITIONAL EXPENSES

There is a one time fee of $20.00 per student upon registration for all new students.  Returning students will have a discounted registration fee of $15.00.  Once classes have begun, any student registering will be charged $25.00.

All persons attending the anual dance recital in May will need to purchase an admission ticket. Tickets will go on sale in May with a lottery system in place. The first ten registrations received will have the first option to purchase their recital tickets prior to the general public. The next ten registration forms, second option, etc.

TUITION

Tuition is based on 33 weeks of classes with 3 weeks built in, free of charge, for any unseen cancellations. Installmants are made in 9 months, September through May. There will be a $10.00 late fee for all monthly payments not received by the 10th of the month and a $15.00 fee for any returned check. Any account that is more than a month delinquent will have their balance charged on their credit card account submitted on their registration form. If a credit card number is not submitted, that student will not be allowed to participate in class(es) until that account has been brought current. ALL PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE!

 

WAITING AREA

All students and parents need to wait in the lobby for their instructor to greet them for class.  We ask that all in the lobby keep conversations and noise to a bare minimum.  Parents are not allowed in the dance room at any time.  There will be a parents' watch class in October and again in March for all to observe their students progress.  If a parent or gaurdian has a concern about their student, please speak to one of the directors to set up a private viewing day.
